This third volume of the Cambridge biography of Lawrence was short-listed for the James Tait Black memorial prize and both widely and favourably reviewed. The title refers to a letter Lawrence wrote to another sufferer from tuberculosis in 1927: 'While we live, we must be game. And when we come to die, we'll die game too.'
